The Hyderabad unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 3.5 kgs gold worth Rs.3.45 crore from a passenger at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad here. Acting on a specific intelligence, the DRI officers intercepted an Indian passenger, who had travelled from Dubai to Hyderabad via Muscat, along with a ground handling staff working at the airport, near aerobridge at the international passengers’ arrival gate of RGIA.
The smuggled gold of foreign origin was being handed over to the ground handling staff by the passenger near the aero bridge. Investigation revealed that the smuggled gold was supposed to be delivered to another ground staff waiting near the parking area at RGIA.
