A fisherman who was bitten by a snake near the outskirts of Bheerpur mandal headquarters was rescued on Saturday night after he himself alerted the police on the ‘Dial 100’ facility.

Police said Ganapathi, a native of Nirmal district, had come to the Rollavagu project to catch prawns when the incident occurred. He was bitten by a snake while at work. He immediately called the police helpline. Responding swiftly, Bheerpur probationary Sub-Inspector Raju and his team reached the location and shifted him to the Jagtial Government Hospital in a 108 ambulance.
